Helping newly adopted dogs thrive — one family at a time.
Every month, Puppy Pros Training volunteers time to support 1–2 families with personalized training for their newly adopted shelter or rescue dog. Completely free. Designed to help your dog stay confidently in their forever home.

Many newly adopted shelter dogs struggle with fear, overexcitement, confusion, or difficulty adjusting to their new home — and the families who welcomed them often feel overwhelmed and unsure where to turn.
This program exists because we believe no family should give up on their dog simply because they didn’t have the right support at the right time. Every month, we volunteer our time to help 1–2 families build confidence, communication, and stability with their newly adopted dog.
If you’re navigating any of this, you’re not alone.
These are some of the most common challenges new rescue dog families face. They’re normal. They’re workable. And they’re exactly what we’re here to help with.
Fearfulness or anxiety in new environments or with new people.
Overexcitement or trouble settling down at home.
Pulling on leash or barking on walks.
Trouble focusing or following basic guidance.
Potty training challenges or accidents in the house.
Adjusting to family life — kids, other pets, daily routines.
Three simple requirements.
90 days in your home
Your dog must have been with you for at least 90 days before applying. We’ll explain why below.
Adopted, not purchased
Your dog must be adopted from a shelter, rescue organization, or private rehoming. Just mention how in the form.
Willing to put in the work
Success depends on consistent practice between sessions. We’ll guide you, but you have to show up.
Why we wait 90 days.
Newly adopted dogs are often in what trainers call the “honeymoon period” — they’re cautious, quiet, and on their best behavior because everything is new and unfamiliar.
The dog you meet in week one is rarely the dog you’ll be living with at month three. Their real personality, real habits, and real challenges typically surface as they settle in and feel safe.
By waiting 90 days, we make sure we’re working with your dog’s true behavior — not the temporary version. It leads to better training, faster results, and lasting change.
Some situations need specialized support.
This program is designed to help with everyday rescue dog challenges. A few situations require deeper, more specialized expertise than we can offer in our volunteer capacity.
- Severe aggression toward humans
- Intra-household dog fighting
- Serious resource guarding
Even if any of these describe your dog — still fill out the form.
We’ll review what you share carefully. Then one of three things happens:
- We can actually help after all — sometimes situations sound bigger than they are
- We offer partial guidance to get you started in the right direction
- We refer you to a trainer who specializes in your dog’s specific needs
Either way, you walk away with a real next step. No one gets ignored.
