Reactivity is exhausting. It’s also fixable.
Lunging on leash. Barking at the door. Losing it when other dogs walk by. Fence-fighting. Inter-dog tension at home. Whatever your dog’s version of reactivity looks like, you don’t have to live this way. Let’s talk.

You scan every walk for other dogs, joggers, or strollers, and reroute the second you spot one.
The doorbell, the mail truck, the neighbor’s dog. Anything sets your dog off, and the whole house pays for it.
You’ve stopped having people over. You’ve stopped taking your dog places. Your world keeps getting smaller.
You’ve tried treats, corrections, prong collars, head halters, “just ignore it.” Nothing has actually stuck.
You’ve been told to “just socialize them more” or that they’ll “grow out of it.” And you know in your gut it’s not that simple.

I get it. Because I’ve lived it.
I’m Tonya. I run Puppy Pros Training out of Brevard County. My path into this work started long before I ever called myself a trainer, with a dog who first pulled me deep into the world of reactivity and showed me how complicated, exhausting, and ultimately changeable it really is.
Today I share my home with three more dogs who’ve each, in their own way, taught me more: Monkey, Frankie, and Birdie. Between the four of them, they’re the reason I know what I know.
It’s also why I work so much with puppy owners. Most reactivity is preventable when you start early, and if I can help one family raise a confident, social puppy and skip all of this, that’s a win for everyone.
Before all this, I spent my career in pharmaceutical chemistry (I hold a Master of Science). That scientific training shapes how I work: I look at behavior systematically, I test what actually moves the needle, and I don’t accept “that’s just how he is” as an answer.
Your dog is as trained as you are consistent.
Dogs thrive on knowing what to expect. When your rules, routines, and responses stay consistent, your dog finally understands what you’re asking, and the guesswork (and the stress) disappears for both of you.
Boundaries aren’t unkind. They’re how a dog learns the world is predictable and safe. Clear expectations, fairly enforced, are one of the most loving things you can give a reactive or anxious dog.
Training that only works in a quiet room isn’t training. We build skills where life actually happens, so your dog holds it together at the door, on the walk, and around other dogs.
The lasting change happens through you. I’ll teach you to read your dog, respond consistently, and lead with confidence, so the results don’t walk out the door when I do.
Consistency in your interactions, the rules you establish, and the routines you implement is how you clearly communicate with your dog.
You’re teaching them what to expect. Over time, that builds their confidence and teaches your dog that they’re safe with you, and that they can trust you.
Three simple steps.

Thirty honest minutes, on the phone or in your living room, to talk through what’s going on with your dog and what’s actually possible.
If it’s a fit, I’ll lay out the path forward. If not, you’ll leave with clarity either way.
I’m honest about who I can help.

What local families are saying.
Ripley, our three-year-old Goldendoodle, has learned more with Tonya than with all the other trainers we’ve worked with. She’s patient, flexible, and extremely knowledgeable. Her sweet demeanor and great sense of humor make it a joy. We love her, and so does Ripley!
My rescue pulled like a freight train. I dreaded every walk; it felt like a battle I might not win. From our first meeting with Tonya, I knew he’d be in good hands, and she supported me between sessions so I never felt alone. Now I walk him with ease. Maverick is calmer, more confident, and happier, and I look forward to every walk.
Skeptical but this actually works (online!). My 10-month-old Husky was jumping on everyone, wouldn’t come when called, and took food right out of the kids’ hands. I thought there’s no way online training fixes all this. But it did. Dallas listens now, he’s calmer around the kids, and I feel confident instead of stressed. Highly recommend!

The best way to fix reactivity is to prevent it.
So much of what I see in reactive adult dogs traces back to missed windows in early puppyhood. If you have a puppy under 16 weeks, you have a head start most owners never get. I built my puppy programs to help you raise the dog you actually want (confident, social, resilient) instead of the one who ends up here.
